Born to Ethiopian immigrants on February 16th, 1990 in Scarborough, Canada, the Weeknd rose to fame as one of the best talents in modern R&B. He grew up with a single mother and his grandmother, learning Amharic and becoming addicted to drugs by age 11. He would later flunk out of school with his best friend Lamar to live the "downtown life." He would rob people for their Jordan's and pursue his passion for singing, formulating trilogy during those desolate times of anguish. Being discovered by Drake's former manager, he blew up in 2010 fpr his enigmatic persona and dark songs. He would later cosign Drake on "Take Care," before releasing "Trilogy." In 2012 we would head to Japan and become inspired to produce "Kissland," deatiling his strife as a new-found superstar. In 2014 Abel released "Beauty Behind the Madness," and he broke streaming records as he collaborated with the likes of Arianna Grande, Ed Sheeran, Beyonce, and Future. He was swept into the light and solidified himself as a star. In 2016 Abel released "Starboy," which many consider to be his most mainstream album. He talks about women, money, drugs, and fame, while he also regrets selling his soul and seeks salvation from the alimighty. He was also the victim oof heartbreak from Bella Hadid, but he his fling with Selena Gomez would result in the manifestation of "My Dear Melancholy." In 2020 he released "After Hours," and in 2022 he released "Dawn FM," making him the biggest singer in history of Billboard and Apple Music.
